News: The animations look good, but the game is nowhere to be found

The Rise & Ruin team has released a new, non-interactive gameplay demo that shows off a bit of fight animation and finishing moves. The animations show a lot of polish and definitely showcase the fact that the game uses motion-captured fight choreography featuring some experienced Hollywood stunt talent. And if you're looking for a bit of backstory, that link will take you to plenty of lore that sets the stage for the battles that will be Rise & Ruin.

If you have already read Gaming Target's Rise & Ruin preview, you know that Rise & Ruin is a fully 3D strategy game that you'll be able to play through your web browser. It's set in a fantasy world that combines magic and technology as it pits four distinct races against one another in battles featuring collectible-card combat.

Rise & Ruin is still slated for a fall 2007 release, but as the year winds down, independent Canadian developer Spore Productions has yet to set a specific date. The fact that the demo footage is non-interactive and doesn't include a look at the game interface doesn't bode well for a prompt release. Still, GT will keep you posted on any future updates.
