News: Sony revs its MotorStorm again this fall.
We all knew that Evolution Studios was at it again as soon as we finished the first MotorStorm game. Why? Because we wanted more. More tracks, more modes and more than one player to be able to play the game locally.
It looks like all of that is going to happen before the end of the year, as Sony announced MotorStorm 2 for fall 2008. This PS3-exclusive is shifting away from the desert environment of its predecessor and moving to a Pacific island locale. Mud will still be a major part of the sequel, but there'll also vegetation this time around. Sony is promising jungles, swamps, and volcanoes with adjectives like Уthick,Ф УlushФ and Уsteaming.Ф
In addition to 16 new tracks (each with multiple routes) and 16-player online races, splitscreen will allow four local players simultaneously. Sony's official blog describes this as a "hugely requested feature," but sorely missed might be a better way to say it.
The last tidbit from MotorStorm 2's official announcement is that a monster truck class will join the original vehicle types: ATVs, rally cars, buggies, motorbikes, race trucks, mudpluggers and Big Rigs. You can see a monster truck in the first (of many, I'm sure) MotorStorm trailer below.
