News: Can you guess who they are?
Out of 40 companies, only four made up of 65 percent of GameStop's 2007 sales. While the four companies are not going to come as a surprise to anyone, we are going to break it down for you anyway:
Nintendo 21 percent.
Sony 17 percent.
Microsoft 16 percent.
Electronic Arts 11 percent.
The company also revealed that 43 percent of it's gross profit came from the sale of used games.
Also mentioned was the subject of downloadable content and its effect on the future of the company:
While it is currently only possible to download a limited amount of videogame content to the next generation videogame systems, at some point in the future this technology may become more prevalent," stated the company.
A limited selection of PC entertainment software and older generation video games is currently available for download over the internet.
If advances in technology continue to expand our customers' ability to access software through these and other sources, our customers may no longer choose to purchase video games or PC entertainment software in our stores. As a result, sales and earnings could decline.
