News: Take that GameStop.
When you think about a Virgin Megastore, what pops into your head? Music undoubtedly. Movies, OK those too. Videogames? Yep, apparently the pop culture Megastore has seen quite a surge in the sales of games, a 93.9 percent surge in 2007 that is.
Simon Wright, CEO of Virgin Entertainment Group, North America had this to say:
Virgin Megastores are being recognized as a lifestyle entertainment shopping destination, rather than solely a music retailer.
This is our second consecutive year that has produced sales that have exceeded our expectations. We attribute this success to a shift in our product offering, an increase in our marketing strategy and a new focus on e-commerce.
Other products that the retailer offers were all up in sales as well, but nowhere near the exponential growth of videogames.
