News: Publication ends traditional print.
Put another nail in the traditional print magazine's coffin. Games for Windows: The Official Magazine, has announced today that the publication will no longer be sold at store shelves. Instead the publication will be hosted on 1UP. The magazine only produced 17 issues.
Simon Cox, VP of content for 1UP, had this to say:
It's a natural move for us to refocus our resources and talent to the online space, in order to reach the PC gaming community where it truly lives.
Editor-in-chief, Jeff Green, gave off a more somber view of the move (not that we can blame him) by likening the move to "the passing of a loved one."
Games for Windows: The Official Magazine had only recently changed over from the former: Computer Gaming World.
Even though we here at Gaming Target are fully aware of the irony, we are sad to see a great magazine leave the stands.
