News: Anarchy may be coming to the U.K.
Earlier today, the announcement that Rock Band would be finally coming to the U.K. created a huge buzz. But an even larger and more angrier buzz came from the announcment of the game's price: roughly the amount of $378 American or double what the North American version costs.
So what did Harmonix's lead designer for the game, Rob Kay, have to say regarding the price?
The combined price, if you add all that up and decide you want that full experience, is quite high. It's not something that is normal in videogames.
But Rock Band isn't normal in videogames. This is an entirely new thing. What other game comes with three peripherals that are all different? It just makes sense for the experience we're trying to deliver.
As for why it costs so much more, Kay pointed to the overall higher cost of electronics. While this certainly will not do anything to calm down the masses, at least it is something.
