The NPD Group has released their year end list of the top five bestselling games of the year and Wii Play stands atop the heap. Yes, the Wii Play that was released in 2007 was the bestselling game of 2008.
The year end list is a "multiplatform list" that combines the sales each game received on each platform it was released on. So Wii Play managed to top
Madden NFL 09, which was released in an astonishing eleven different configurations. The multiplatform list also includes retail sales of the PC version, if there is one.
