News: Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe must have sold really well.

Midway has announced that its bankruptcy woes may be coming to an end as the company has entered into a "stalking horse agreement" with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to purchase all of their US assets.

Warner Bros. is said to be looking to acquire Midway for $33 million. The deal would include the Mortal Kombat franchise, Midway's main Chicago studio and Midway Seattle. Midway previously worked with WBIE in the creation of last year's Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (Warner Bros. owns DC Comics outright).

Several studios and properties would not be included in the deal. These exclusions include Midway San Diego (who developed TNA Impact!), the TNA license itself and Midway Newcastle (who developed Wheelman).

However, the Warner Bros. sale is not a done deal yet. As part of the bankruptcy proceedings, Midway will offer itself up for auction where other qualified buyers will bid on all or part of the company.

But whatever way you slice it, Midway (and more importantly, the Mortal Kombat franchise) will live on.

We'll have more soon.
