News: Alongside the All Fronts Collection DLC.
Del Rey has announced that the second book in their Gears of War trilogy will be released as a trade paperback on July 28. Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant was written by Karen Traviss, the author of the first book in the series, Gears of War: Aspho Fields, as well as the Star Wars: Republic Commando novels. This novel takes place after Gears of War 2 and follows Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago's struggle to survive after the destruction of Jacinto:
After a brutal fifteen-year war for survival, the Coalition of Ordered Governments is forced to destroy Jacinto Ц mankind's last city Ц in a final bid to stop the Locust Horde. As the survivors flee, they're caught between the last of the Locust, bent on vengeance, and a primitive struggle to stay alive in an icy wilderness. It's up to Marcus Fenix, Dom Santiago, and their fellow Gears to fight to get Jacinto's refugees to a safe haven. But what they find is a new world; lawless, treacherous, with an all too familiar enemy Ц humans, as desperate and dangerous as any Locust grub.
Epic Games, the development studio behind the Gears of War series worked with Traviss to ensure the novel was true to the game's universe.
July 28 also marks the release of the next Game Add-on for Gears of War 2. The All Fronts Collection will be available to download on Xbox Live for 1600 Microsoft Points ($20) and it will include all previously released downloadable content for the game to date in addition to Dark Corners, a new collection of seven multiplayer maps and Road to Ruin, a new campaign chapter.
We'll have more soon.
