News: Japanese beat'em up is coming to America.
Atlus has announced they are bringing Kenka Bancho 3, a Japanese beat'em up, to the PSP in early 2010. They are also asking their fans to help decide on a new name for the title, as Kenka Bancho 3 doesn't translate so easily...
"So what does 'Kenka Bancho' mean?" you suddenly ask. Good question! "Bancho" is a Japanese term for someone who's in charge because he's the meanest, toughest, strongest dude around. "Kenka" means "fighting," making the entire title the equivalent of "Awesome Master of Badass Beating-Up-People Guys."
Personally, I like it. But I can see why Atlus is looking for something a little simpler. To that end, they've come up with a list of finalists that fans can vote on
at the Atlus survey site:
Kenka Bancho
Badass
Badass Rumble
Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble
Turf Wars
Kenka Bancho: Turf War
Bancho Royale
Fist of the Bancho
Rise of the Bancho
According to Atlus, the game puts players in the role of a high school student on a class trip to a historic Japanese city and it includes "no shortage of fist-to-face and knee-to-gut action, and all in the name of pride and bragging rights."
Yup, I'm really sorry "Awesome Master of Badass Beating-Up-People Guys" is out of the running. I'd buy ten copies of a game with that title.
We'll have more soon.
