News: Exclusive WiiWare title being offered to the biggest Nintendo addicts.
Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program where DS and Wii owners can register their games online and collect virtual coins that they can spend on real prizes. Nintendo reset everyone's coin collection on June 30 and bestowed Gold or Platinum status to those that earned 300 coins or 600 coins, respectively.
Now, the company has announced the prizes those Nintendo addicts have won. Platinum members will have a choice between a real-life replica of Mario's iconic red hat or an exclusive downloadable WiiWare game titled
Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! While the hat seems neat, the chance to go one-on-one with Little Mac's trainer in the ring seems too good to pass up:
It's Little Mac vs. Doc Louis!! Step into Little Mac's shoes and challenge your mentor and coach, Doc Louis, to prove you have what it takes to become the World Video Boxing Association World Champion.
This unique one-on-one bout builds off of the fun and excitement found in the retail version of Punch-Out!! for the Wii console and is designed exclusively for 2009 Club Nintendo Platinum Members as a free download. This gift will not be available anywhere else!!
So it looks like it pays to be a platinum member because, as of now, Nintendo has no plans to release Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! to the general Wii community.
Gold members will receive a 2010 Nintendo Desk Calendar featuring artwork from 12 different Nintendo games.
Nintendo has asked all Club Nintendo members that have earned Gold or Platinum status to make sure their profile shows the correct address by August 11. All of prizes (including Doc Louis's Punch-Out!!) will be made available in November.
We'll have more soon.
