News: It's beginning to look a lot like Fall.
Codemasters has announced the release dates for their two biggest titles of the Fall while Capcom has finally stamped a date on its Wii brawler Spyborgs.
First up, Codemasters has penciled Dirt 2 onto the release date calendar for September 8. On that day, the game will be released on the DS, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360. Codemasters plans to release a PC version with DirectX 11 support sometime after that. Dirt 2 is the latest game in Codemasters long-running "Colin McRae" off-road racing series:
Taking players on an exhilarating World Tour, DiRT 2 will deliver over 100 stunning events, including aggressive, multi-vehicle races and intense solo challenges, set in the most diverse and demanding real-world environments. From the muddy tracks of the Malaysian rainforest to spectator-packed stadiums in London and Los Angeles, racers will compete in contemporary off-road race disciplines covering Rallycross, Trailblazer, Raid, Landrush, and Rally.
Codemasters has a second sequel planned for the Fall as
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising has also been given a firm release date. The first person shooter will be coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 6 after quite a lengthy development cycle. Codemasters tapped an internal development team to create Dragon Rising. Meanwhile, the developers of the original Operation Flashpoint, Bohemia Interactive, went on to create a spiritual sequel by the name of
ArmA. Coincidentally,
ArmA II will be released for the PC next week.
Finally, Capcom has announced that their arcade-style brawler for the Wii,
Spyborgs, will be released on September 29:
When players take control of the weapon-enhanced cyborgs in their pursuit of a nefarious traitor, they will come together in 2-player co-op to face over 35 stages of mind-blowing challenges packed with epic boss battles and swarms of enemies that only a team of two can defeat!
We'll have more on all three games very soon.
