News: Excelsior! Civil War begins on September 15th.

Activision has announced that Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 will be released for the DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360 on September 15. As original developer Raven Software was busy working on X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Wolfenstein, Activision handed development duties off to Vicarious Visions (PS3, Xbox 360), n-Space (DS, PS2, Wii) and Savage Entertainment (PSP).

To create the cross-company storyline for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, the developers found inspiration in Marvel's controversial "Civil War" storyline:

The greatest superhero action/RPG of all time is back with the world's largest army of heroes and villains in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. Incorporating elements of the acclaimed Marvel Civil War storyline, the game allows players to choose their side and team up with revered heroes and villains, including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man, Deadpool, Venom, Green Goblin and Captain America. Players can combine characters' powers and unleash astonishing new attacks.

While the game's storyline may not endear it to comic fans, the inclusion of Stan Lee in his first on-screen appearance in a video game might. While Stan the Man has previously cameod in over a dozen Marvel adaptations, MUA2 will be only his second video game credit (he provided the narration to the game adaptation of the first Spider-Man movie). Lee will provide his likeness in addition to his voice talents for a character that is "very important to the game's storyline."

УI am thrilled to be making my first onscreen videogame cameo in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2,Ф said Stan Lee, Publisher Emeritus, Marvel Comics. УIt's such a kick to see characters that I've helped create come to life in the game and now I'm a part of the Marvel videogame universe!Ф

We'll have more soon.
