News: World War II isn't over yet.
Electronic Arts has announced that Battlefield 1943 has smashed several records during it's short stint of availability. The game was added to the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade on July 8, and on that day it became the fastest selling download-only game ever. In addition to having the best sales ever on day one, Battlefield 1943 would go on to become the fastest selling download-only game after the first week as well.
According to EA, all told, the game has sold over 600,000 copies on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in the two weeks since its release.
EA was also proud to announce that the Battlefield 1943 community challenge has been a rousing success. The company promised to unlock the Coral Sea map on each platform after gamers recorded 43 million kills. PS3 players were able to reach this milestone in eight days while Xbox 360 players did it in five.
Finally, EA has said that gamers who have already exhausted the 30 minute time limit on the demo version have been given another 30 minutes of play time as of July 18.
Our full review of Battlefield 1943 will be posted later today and we'll have more on all things World War II-related soon.
