Review: The only fishing game where you can be both the master baiter and the masturbator.

It doesn't get much better when you actually start fishing either. There is a nice selection of lures and rods to use when catching the fish Ц but it all goes downhill from there. First off, the control is extremely awkward and badly lined up. The instruction manual doesn't even help, since it doesn't even give the uses for the analog sticks, which actually have some use in the game for pulling the lure around and tugging the fish up into your boat.

Even when you do get things going okay, getting the fish to actually catch onto the hook is impossible. As a matter of fact, they just swim right through the thing. There's meters next to each fish gauging how much interest they have in a particular lure, but even when it's full they don't seem interested at all.

When you actually do catch a fish, you practically have to smash down like a nimrod to pull the catch out of the water and be successful. 2 buttons handle it Ц one for a slow reel and one for a fast reel, with the 2 combined for the fastest possible. Even when you absolutely pounce on the buttons, the odds of catching a fish are slim and none. That's not even remotely fun, and makes the game terrible to waste time with. There's just no rhyme or reason to getting the fish to bite, and it makes for a frustrating game that's a total disgrace.

The graphics are okay; but you'd hope so given that there's so little to animate. Underwater, all that's there is a few plants, and a handful of fish. All the fish look exactly the same too, though they do actually look pretty realistic. Above water, the environments are sparse but not ugly Ц though the T&A chick you get to fish as looks rather blocky Ц a shame since the loading screen version actually looks pretty decent.

The sounds are rather non-existent Ц besides the boring and annoying theme song that plays in the menu screens, there's not much around. The remarks by Babe are lame and don't even fit in a game like this. There's some underwater sounds here and there and some small effects when reeling in your fish, but there's hardly anything else around to talk about. Like the graphics, the audio is very sparse and completely forgettable, just like the rest of this game.

Bottom Line
The only reason why this game gets the score it does is because the game case can be used on another game that may be cracked, and because the game only costs $10 bucks. Besides that, this game is horrible, with no sense of enjoyment at all. The actual fishing does have some potential, but it's just executed like crap. If you come across this game, run away from it as fast as you can, and don't even think of buying the game Ц but somehow I know nobody is actually going to buy it anyway. This game is so dirty I feel like I need to perform an exorcism to rid my PlayStation 2 of this drivel. Avoid.
