News: The Holy Grail of music games finally has a real release date.
Rockstar has been talking about Beaterator, their musicmaking tool for the PSP, off and on for the last three years. And now, after all that time, it looks like the company is finally ready to release it as they've penciled it in for a September 29 release date.
Developed by Rockstar Leeds and created in collaboration with famed music producer Timbaland, the PSP version of Beaterator is based on a Flash version that has been available at the Rockstar website since 2005. And it's still available at Beaterator.RockstarGames.com. In the game, players will be able to mix and loop sounds just like a real music producer:
Featuring thousands of loops and sounds made by both Timbaland and Rockstar, Beaterator puts the power to make professional-level music at your fingertips in a format that's portable, accessible and fun Ц anyone can now create great-sounding music.
УBeaterator is a very natural progression for us,Ф said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. УMusic is incredibly important to us here at Rockstar, and we believe that there are many people out there who share that passion and will be excited about creating music of their own.Ф
УI've worked closely with Rockstar Games to make something completely unique,Ф said Timbaland. УBeaterator is like taking my music studio and turning it into a suite of tools anyone can use. We can't wait to hear the beats people make and share with the world.Ф
We'll have more soon.
