News: Jonathan Coulton wants your brains.

Just in time for this weekend's Penny Arcade Expo, Harmonix has announced a "PAX Collection" Track Pack will be added to the Rock Band Store next week. The PAX Collection will feature a trio of artists that will be performing at this year's PAX expo: Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot and Paul & Storm.

Additionally, a track pack from Harmonix's favorite band, Freezepop, will also be added to the store next week. Finally, a quartet of singles that were previously released as exclusive songs on Rock Band Unplugged will make it to the store.

The PAX Collection Track Pack will cost $2.99 (or 240 Microsoft Points) with individual tracks available for $0.99 or 80 Microsoft Points or 100 Wii Points each. The pack will contain the following songs:

  • Jonathan Coulton Ц "Re: Your Brains"
  • MC Frontalot Ц "Origin of Species"
  • Paul & Storm Ц "Opening Band"

The Freezepop Track Pack 01 will also cost $2.99 (or 240 Microsoft Points) with individual tracks available for $0.99 or 80 Microsoft Points or 100 Wii Points each. The pack will contain the following songs:

  • Freezepop Ц "Get Ready 2 Rokk"
  • Freezepop Ц "Less Talk More Rokk"
  • Freezepop Ц "Science Genius Girl"

Finally, the four singles (which will be priced at $1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points or 200 Wii Points) will be 3 Doors Down Ц "Kryptonite", AFI Ц "Miss Murder", Audioslave Ц "Gasoline" and Jackson 5 Ц "ABC".

All of the songs and track packs will be added to the Xbox Live Marketplace and Wii Shop on Tuesday, September 8 and to the PlayStation Store on Thursday, September 10.

The Wii Rock Band Store for Rock Band 2 will receive another update this week as Harmonix has finally almost brought it in line with the PS3 and Xbox 360 stores (only a handful of songs remain unavailable on the Wii store). Ten more tracks will be added (which will push the Wii Rock Band 2 Store to exactly 667 songs), including songs from The Talking Heads and Oasis. Each track will be available to download for 200 Wii Points ($2) each:

  • Avenged Sevenfold Ц "Bat Country"
  • The Jam Ц "A Town Called Malice"
  • The Jam Ц "Going Underground"
  • Oasis Ц "Supersonic" (Live)
  • Rage Against the Machine Ц "Guerilla Radio"
  • Talking Heads Ц "And She Was"
  • Talking Heads Ц "Crosseyed & Painless"
  • Talking Heads Ц "Girlfriend is Better"
  • Talking Heads Ц "Once in a Lifetime"
  • Talking Heads Ц "Take Me to the River"

Finally, the PSP Rock Band Store for Rock Band Unplugged will receive two new tracks, "I Stand Alone" from Godsmack and "Love Spreads" from The Stone Roses. Each track will be able to be downloaded for $1.99 each when they're added to the store on Thursday, September 10.
