Assassin's Creed II will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 17, exactly three weeks from today. Coincidentally, Ubisoft has posted the first part to Assassin's Creed: Lineage on YouTube today. Lineage is a three part live action/CGI mini-movie that will star Giovanni Auditore da Firenze (father to the game's protagonist, Ezio) and serve as a prequel to the game.
Like Ezio, Giovanni is secretly an Assassin, a group that has been at war with the Templars for centuries. Lineage is centered around Giovanni's investigation into the brutal murder of the Duke of Milan, which takes place directly before the start of Assassin's Creed II. According to Ubisoft, "the answers he uncovers implicate Italy's most powerful families reaching all the way back to the Vatican itself. As Giovanni draws closer to the truth, he becomes hunted himself. He must expose the conspirators before he joins their ever growing list of victims."
In the first episode, Giovanni attempts to thwart a conspiracy against one of Lorenzo de Medici's allies. The ensuing inquiry will take him to Milan where he tries to prevent the worst from happening.
So with that, here's part one of Assassin's Creed: Lineage...
Ubisoft has said that part two is "coming soon", and that will likely be sometime next week.
