Electronic Arts is considered the king of almost every sports video game adaptation. Except for when it comes to mixed martial arts. In that case, THQ signed an exclusive deal to create games using fighters from the UFC (the premier MMA promotion in the US). But EA Sports has countered by signing a deal with rival affiliation Strikeforce.
Many features of the Strikeforce promotion will be worked into EA Sports MMA when it releases on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year. That includes the cage design, ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. and commentators Frank Shamrock and Mauro Ranallo. Five of the league's biggest stars, Fedor Emelianenko, Brett Rogers, Jake Shields and Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, will appear in the game.
To celebrate this major step forward for EA Sports MMA, the company has released the first trailer for the game, which made it's debut Saturday night during the CBS broadcast of the Emelianenko/Rogers bout (which Emelianenko won in round two):
