News: More zombie brains on a golden platter.
Capcom has announced the American release details for Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition, the enhanced (and PlayStation Wand-enabled) ultimate edition of the latest Resident Evil game. It will be known in America as the more tongue-friendly Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition and it'll be available in stores for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 9.
But as promised, Capcom will also be releasing the new missions and modes from the Gold Edition as downloadable content on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The DLC will be released in two waves of content in February and March and players who wish to download the DLC will be required to own Resident Evil 5.
The first wave of DLC will contain the "Lost in Nightmares" episode and the first four characters from the "Mercenaries Reborn" character pack:
"Lost in Nightmares" Episode: 2/17/10 (Xbox 360), 2/18/10 (PS3)
Costume Pack 1: 2/17/10 (Xbox 360), 2/18/10 (PS3)
The second wave of DLC will appear just before the game's March 9 retail release. It will be made up of the second, currently unnamed, episode and the second set of "Mercenaries Reborn" characters:
Episode 2: 3/3/10 (Xbox 360), 3/4/10 (PS3)
Costume Pack 2: 3/3/10 (Xbox 360), 3/4/10 (PS3)
If you don't currently own Resident Evil 5, the Gold Edition disc will contain all of the downloadable content and the original game for a price of $49.99. The PS3 version will contain all of the content on a single Blu-ray disc while the Xbox 360 version will contain the original game on a DVD along with a downloadable token to obtain the DLC.
We'll have more soon.
