News: You can now rock out to one of the greatest songs of all time on Rock Band.
In 1991, Nirvana told the world "Here we are, now entertain us". Harmonix has taken these words to heart and in just a little over two years, the company has made over 1,000 songs available on the Rock Band Music Store. These 1,000 songs have been added to the store over a period of 105 straight weeks and encompass more than 390 bands. And gamers have responded to this massive availability of songs by downloading over 60 million songs from the store.
After all that, you'd think the folks at Harmonix would take a rest. Instead, the 106th straight week of additions to the Rock Band Music Store will once again shine the spotlight on Seattle's favorite sons, Nirvana and their signature song "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
The grunge anthem will be a part of the Nirvana Pack 02 along with live renditions of "Come As You Are" (from the MTV Unplugged album) and "Lithium" (from the Live at Reading album). All three songs will be made available to download on the Wii and Xbox 360 today with PlayStation 3 owners getting their chance on Thursday, December 3. The pack will be priced at $5.49 on the PS3 (or 440 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360) and individual songs will be available to download for $1.99/160 Microsoft Points/200 Wii Points each.
In addition to the Nirvana Pack 02, a Night Ranger Pack will also be added to the Rock Band Music Store. The pack will include "(You Can Still) Rock in America", "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" and "You're Gonna Hear It From Me". Like the Nirvana pack, all three songs will be made available to download on the Wii and Xbox 360 today and on the PS3 on December 3. The price of the full pack and the individual songs will also be the same.
Four of the six songs will also be able to be downloaded from the family-friendly
Lego Rock Band Music Store: "Come As Your Are", "(You Can Still) Rock in America", "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" and "You're Gonna Hear It From Me".
