The Spike TV Video Game Awards were last night and while my congratulations go out to the winners, the big news of the night was the twelve world premiere trailers that introduced us to 2010's most anticipated games.
With the success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it was inevitable that other publishers would trot out their own "Call of Duty-killer" in 2010. And the VGAs had two of them on hand: Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor (which was officially announced a week ago) and 2K Games' Spec Ops: The Line.
Spec Ops: The Line is in development at Yager for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It will be set in the city of Dubai during the aftermath of an Apocalyopse Now-like uprising by a rogue character. At least, that's what the voiceover implied.
Finally, while it doesn't deal with a realistic modern conflict, new footage from Microsoft's Crackdown 2 debuted at the VGAs. Developed by Ruffian Games (themselves a spinoff of Real Time Worlds, the first Crackdown's developer), the game features an all out war against an unstoppable mutant horde. Good thing you're a genetically-engineered supersolider.
