News: Also hints at "something big" for CES.
Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft's Director of Product Management, was on hand during the latest taping of the Major Nelson podcast and he has confirmed that a few very anticipated titles from Microsoft will be released in the first half of 2010.
Greenberg steps up to the mic starting at 22:00. After Major Nelson makes fun of his new retainer, Greenberg begins to talk about the November NPD numbers and, of course, the complete domination of Xbox 360 software sales during the month. This segues into a dicussion about the Xbox 360's 2010 lineup and at 32:00 Greenberg drops this bomb...
"Starting in January we have like a AAA exclusive title pretty much every month for the first half of the year. You got Mass Effect 2. You got Splinter Cell[: Conviction]. You got Alan Wake. You got Crackdown 2. And we know we've got Fable III and Halo: Reach coming later in the year."
While it was more or less assumed that Alan Wake and Crackdown 2 would be released in the first half of the year, official confirmation from one of Microsoft's head honchos is always nice. And while he doesn't come right out and say it, Greenberg more or less confirmed that Alan Wake will be released in March or April with Crackdown 2 following it in April or May.
Greenberg also briefly touched on next year's Consumer Electronics Show (starting at33:30), which will be held from January 7th through the 10th in Las Vegas. While nothing was confirmed, he did say that Microsoft would bring "something big" to the show, as they always do. If you'll recall, last year's big announcements included a release date for
Halo Wars and the debut of
1 vs 100.
We'll have more soon.
