Special: Here it is. We've reached the end of our look back at our favorite games of the year with the absolute best games of 2009. Did your favorite make the cut?

New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Platforms: Wii
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer Nintendo
Release Date: November 15, 2009

"For all of the game's new tilt controls, Super Guides and multiplayer options, it's still a Mario game at its core. The first few levels are a bit slow, but the castle in World 1 changes everything. All of the lava... the castle theme music... the grinding gears... the joy of a new sidescrolling Mario game all came rushing back to me. My critical eye disappeared and I was eight years old again. After that, I began looking forward to each new red circle on the map and wondering what new (or classic) treasures each level would bring." - John Scalzo

Punch-Out!!
Platforms: Wii
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer Next Level Games
Release Date: May 18, 2009

"Punch-Out!! captures the essence and invokes the spirit of the original without feeling old. The developers at Next Level have created the Punch-Out!! sequel fans have been waiting fifteen years for. At times, the game can feel a bit too scripted, but even someone who's never taken on Mike Tyson or the dreaded Bruiser brothers will find that Punch-Out!! still retains its crown as the best boxing game the world has to offer." - John Scalzo

Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Platforms: PS3
Publisher: Sony
Developer Insomniac Games
Release Date: October 27, 2009

"Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time is yet another great entry in a consistently excellent franchise, and the best entry in the series since the PS2 days. The added variety helps overcome the familiar gameplay concepts, and more importantly, they're polished and fun experiences. With any luck, we'll see more amusing adventures in the future, but if this is the last go-around, Insomniac made sure they went out in a memorable fashion." - Adam Woolcott

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Platforms: PS3
Publisher: Sony
Developer Naughty Dog
Release Date: October 13, 2009

"Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the kind of game you have to experience for yourself to understand just how great it really is. Fans of the first game will be amazed at the improvements, and it might even win over people who didn't enjoy the original. A non-stop action game that almost never lets up, combined with some of the best voice acting and story moments in a long time and great multiplayer gives the game shelf life; you'll be playing it for a while before putting it away. When Naughty Dog left the world of platforming and went into the action-adventure genre, there was some trepidation. If the first game was merely a Уgetting your feet wetФ moment, then Uncharted 2 is the culmination of years of learning and listening to what people thought of that already great original. Uncharted 2 is the kind of game you buy a system for Ц and on the eve of it's third anniversary, the PS3's showcase title in their latest move to regain the relevancy Sony's gaming division enjoyed for over a decade." - Adam Woolcott
