News: More retro "demakes" like Dark Void Zero are in the pipeline.
Destructoid's Jonathan Holmes recently sat down with Capcom Community Manager Seth Killian to discuss the company's best and worst moments in 2009 and what they have in store for 2010.
After the expected banter about Capcom's two biggest games from last year, Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV, the discussion turned to 2010. From there, Holmes rattled off a variety of questions, which Killian answered as monosyllabicly as possible (probably to prevent himself from spilling some big secrets):
More retro revivals? Killian replied: "Yes"
More remakes? Killian replied: "Yes"
New IP? Killian replied: "Yes"
Hardcore Wii games? Killian replied: "Maybe"
Motion-controlled PS3/360 games? Killian replied: "I think... yes"
Of course, some of these answers are able to be paired with previously announced Capcom games such as Mega Man 10 (a retro revival), Dark Void (new IP) and motion-controlled PS3/360 games (Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition).
Finally, Killian was asked about Dark Void Zero, the NES-styled prequel to Dark Void coming exclusively to the DSiWare Shop. When asked if Capcom has any other retro-styled games in the pipe for 2010, he cryptically replied "[I'm] happy to say there's something else distinctly demake-esque coming soon. Of course, there's also Mega Man 10, which isn't so much a demake as a straight up high-five to the joys of classic gaming."
While it might be useless to speculate at this point, it is fun wondering what Capcom series will next get the demake treatment. Street Fighter? Resident Evil? Onimusha? Devil May Cry? The possibilities really are endless.
We'll have more soon.
