News: When Nintendo says something is a limited edition, they mean it.
The blog Coffee With Games recently contacted Nintendo of America about Metroid Prime Trilogy's "Out of Stock" status at Amazon and the answer they received is a bit shocking.
In no uncertain terms, Coffee With Games was told that Metroid Prime Trilogy is no longer be published and that Nintendo's entire stock of the game has already been shipped to stores:
Thanks for your e-mail. The earlier response regarding Metroid Prime Trilogy was correct: it is no longer being shipped. When first introduced, it was announced that there would be limited availability. However, a reason for this was not announced. That being said, you may still be able to locate a copy via stores that specialize in previously played or used games.
But in a way, this shouldn't be too surprising. Nintendo has always touted Metroid Prime Trilogy as a limited "Collector's Edition", and by gum, they meant it. After a little over four months of availability, the only way to get the game is by buying it used or hoping a copy is still on the shelf at your local game retailer.
However, if you're still in a market for one of Nintendo's other New Play Control! Wiimakes,
Pikmin, Mario Power Tennis or
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Coffee With Games was assured that those games are still being published.
We'll have more soon.
