News: EA is on fire.
After much speculation, EA Sports has officially announced they will be reviving the NBA Jam series exclusively on the Wii. Simply titled NBA Jam, the game is in development at EA Canada for a 2010 release.
Part remake and part update, the new NBA Jam will reintroduce gamers to the classic sights and sounds of the franchise while also adding new game modes, characters and gameplay depth. The company assured fans that while the new NBA Jam will include plenty of new modes, it will also include the "high-flying, backboard-smashing dunks" the series is known for.
EA has said they also plan to update the game's visual style by bringing "true-to-life body types, updated physics, and visible player [emotions]" to NBA Jam.
УNBA Jam is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history,Ф said Peter Moore, President, EA Sports. УDiehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We're very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise.Ф
Finally, the game's official website will open soon at
nba-jam.easports.com. When it does I'm sure we'll get our first look at the new NBA Jam, but as of 10 AM Eastern Time, the site is offline.
We'll have more soon.
