News: So says Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick recently told Game Informer that DJ Hero 2 will be released in 2010. Speaking to the magazine last month, he had this to say about DJ Hero's poor reception and his plans for the sequel:
"[I]f you're going to make a commitment to doing something original, the odds are that you're not going to get it right on the first chance. I think DJ Hero is a really innovative product. I can't wait for you to see next year's. That's the thing; we're sticking with it. We'll stick with it and get it right. But it's going to be less games, better games. That's our strategy."
Part of that strategy will include the DJ Hero Listening Session at the 2010 MIDEM (Marchщ International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale) conference. Taking place on January 27, the Listening Session will present ten undiscovered musicians to an expert panel. This panel will judge each entrant's musical talent and the winner will get the chance to have their winning song mixed, mastered and featured in DJ Hero 2.
Activision has previously used a Listening Session at the MIDEM conference to discover new music for Guitar Hero: World Tour (The Answer) and Guitar Hero 5 (Attack! Attack! UK).
We'll have more soon.
