Special: There goes my bank account.
8. Red Dead Redemption
Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360
Release Date: April 27, 2010
Maybe its because I'm from a state that has romanticized the Old West so much that I'm excited (Texas by the way). Red Dead Redemption is making my cowboy dreams come true though. Rockstar has opened up the Old West for players to explore, you can shoot every person in a bar, or save a damsel taken by bandits, basically everything in an Old West movie will be available in this game.
9. Super Mario Galaxy 2
Platforms: Wii
Release Date: TBA 2010
I know I always crack jokes about Nintendo, but I really only want them to succeed. Galaxy 2 is the first full length Mario game since launch, and boy am I excited. Though the sequel does not seem to add on to much in the gameplay feature (you do get to ride Yoshi now though!), players can look forward to a great platforming experience that Nintendo always delivers with their products.
10. Halo: Reach
Platforms: Xbox 360
Release Date: TBA 2010
The first full length Halo game since Halo 3 seems to be quite extraordinary, of course I'm judging this from only seeing a in-game engine trailer, but nevertheless I'm very excited to see what Bungie can cook up for their best-selling franchise. Hopefully, Bungie will change the gameplay ever so slightly to freshen it up a bit, and I seriously hope the Battle of Reach will have a huge scope like they said it will. Also, this made my Top 10 because I'm a freaking huge Halo fanboy.
Honorable Mentions
2010 will be a great year for gaming. The list above is just a fraction of the great games that are coming to you this year. Now lets join in a prayer that none of the games above (or below) get delayed to 2011.Еand then to 2012, and then soon become an industry joke bigger than Duke Nukem Forever, because these games actually seem to be good. But if you're unhappy with my list look below to see if your game made the Honorable Mentions listЕ
1. Fable III
Platforms: Xbox 360
Release Date:Q4 2010
Why it was consideredЕ Fable is a great series of RPGs, and Fable III is a semi-direct sequel to Fable II, which allows players to migrate their saved files from part 2 to part 3. Also one cannot help get excited for a Peter Molyneux game.
Why it didn't make the cutЕ Until Natal is proven to work in this type of game I don't want. Also making campaign promises doesn't seem very fun to me. Also as much as I love the first two Fable games they were very much a let down from what I expected.
2. Dante's Inferno
Platforms: PSP, PS3, Xbox 360
Release Date: February 9, 2010
Why it was consideredЕ With people from God of War working on Dante's Inferno it is safe to say the gameplay in the full game will be solid, the plot intense, and the graphics to be phenomenal.
Why it didn't make the cutЕ Dante's Inferno may be a fun game, but it screwed itself on the release date. People will not want to drop $60 on a game just after beating Bayonetta, and with God of War III dropping the month after Dante's Inferno's release people will keep their coins for God of War III rather than what they see as a rip-off of God of War.
3. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Platforms: PC
Release Date: TBA 2010
Why it was consideredЕ To be honest, I have a guilty pleasure for PC gaming, especially Blizzard games. The sequel to the Best RTS of All-Time seems to improve on all the original's mistakes (if there were any). StarCraft II looks beautiful, and I will spend many nights losing to Korean children.
Why it didn't make the cutЕ Blizzard is notorious for delaying games, which is somewhat of a good thing because at least you know the product will be great... eventually.
