News: The Wii specialists reveal the publisher of their mythological one-on-one fighter.
Sega and High Voltage Software teamed up last year to bring the first person shooter The Conduit to the Wii. While the game didn't set the sales charts on fire, the publisher and the developer have teamed up once more to offer another mature gaming experience on the Wii with Tournament of Legends.
First announced last year as Gladiator A.D., Tournament of Legends is a 3D fighting game that pits a variety of mythological creatures, such as a Minotaur, a Gladiator, a Valkyrie and more, against each other in one-on-one combat. In typical one-on-one fighting style, each character will have a wide range of special attacks and weapons:
Take these fighters to epic battles in fantastic fighting arenas where the combatants wield legendary weapons, launch magical attacks and dodge giant mythological creatures that protect their lairs. Master a range of incredible combat moves; including unleashing a man-eating lion, summoning a deadly rain of arrows and throwing a nest of venomous snakes.
High Voltage is creating two different control schemes for Tournament of Legends that they feel will give gamers a "rich weapon fighting experience". A two-fisted motion-controlled Wii Remote & Nunchuk control scheme is considered the main method of control. Players will be able to switch weapons and enchantments with other characters while also dodging giant mythological creatures or restoring health and armour during fights. An option to use the Classic Controller will also be included.
"With Tournament of Legends, we want to take Wii weapon-based fighting to a bigger place. Along with a wide selection of blade weapons and animated magic attacks we've achieved rich graphical effects and detailed, epic characters with the Quantum 3 engine. The mythological characters are some of the biggest 3D playable characters on Wii.Ф said Eric Nofsinger, COO of High Voltage Software.
Tournament of Legends will be released on the Wii in May.
