Last year, Namco Bandai hinted that they had something special planned for Pac-Man's 30th anniversary. Today, they've released a 13-second teaser trailer showcasing the video game icon's anniversary present to the world: competitive multiplayer.
The game is known as Pac-Man: Battle Royale. Featuring the familiar multi-colored ghosts, it also gives players the option to take control of one of four multi-colored Pac-Men.
And best of all, the final frame of the teaser trailer makes it look like it will feature the same high definition mazes used in Pac-Man: Championship Edition, which was released on the Xbox Live Arcade in 2007:
Pac-Man: Battle Royale will make its worldwide debut at the 2010 Amusement Expo next month in Las Vegas. While that means its only planned to be released as an arcade cabinet for now, there's a very real chance the game will make the jump to the Xbox 360 (or one of the other consoles). Because after all, arcades ain't what they were in 1980.
We'll definitely have more soon, including plenty of begging and pleading in the hope that Namco Bandai will bring Battle Royale to a home system.
