News: It really is a realistic Mario Kart.
With beta keys flying all over the Internet, Bizarre Creations has published a Power-ups and Weaponry Survival Guide for their upcoming battle racer Blur.
During the game's development, more than a few people (including Bizarre themselves) have described the game as "Mario Kart with realistic cars". The new Power-ups and Weaponry Survival Guide proves just how accurate that description is.
Blur will include eight power-ups, most of which correlate with a similar power-up in Mario Kart:
The Shunt is a Red Shell.
The Barge is the offensive half of a Star.
The Mine is a Banana Peel.
The Shock is a Blue Shell.
The Nitro is, not surprisingly, a Mushroom.
The Bolt is a trio of Green Shells.
The Shield is the defensive half of a Star.
The Repair is the only power-up that has no Mario Kart analog. That's because in Mario Kart your kart can't be destroyed. But in Blur, your car can be blown off the track if it suffers enough damage. Thankfully, the Repair will repair your ride.
Be sure to check out the rest of the Power-ups and Weaponry Survival Guide, it's definitely worth a look.
Blur will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 25 and the Xbox 360 multiplayer beta begins on March 8. We'll have more soon.
