News: With no other details to announce just yet.
Viacom President and CEO Philippe Dauman officially announced Rock Band 3 at the Credit Suisse Group Global Media and Communications Conference. While Dhani Harrison (George's son) has been talking up his involvement with the game for a while, this is the first time something official has been confirmed by Harmonix/MTV Games (or in this case, its parent company). The game will be released this Fall and according to the Rock Band Facebook page, will "innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again":
Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!
No other details were released, but let's face it, it'll be released for the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 and come with a new set of peripherals and about 75-90 new songs.
Of course, all of that information will likely be revealed at a venue a little more suited to a bigtime game announcement.
We'll have more soon.
