News: Welcome to paradise this Summer.
Harmonix and MTV Games have sent out a warning that Green Day: Rock Band will be released for the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 on June 8.
Like The Beatles: Rock Band, this Green Day-specific entry in the series will only feature tracks from the band, 47 of them in fact. Band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Trщ Cool will all be featured in the game as players "progress through the story and history of Green Day." By playing, players will also gain access to 100 collectible images and more than 40 minutes of rare and unreleased video from interviews, outtakes and performances.
A full setlist wasn't revealed, but the game will contain songs such as "Brain Stew," "Jaded," "Hitchin' a Ride," "American Idiot," "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". The songs from the two Green Day Track Packs can also be exported into the game with added three-part vocal harmonies, unique performance visuals, and exclusive archival material.
Speaking of the two Green Day Track Packs, in addition to the standalone game (there won't be a full band bundle), Harmonix also plans to release a special edition known as
Green Day: Rock Band Plus that will include the standard game, special packaging and all of the songs from the DLC packs. The Plus version of Green Day: Rock Band will retail for $69.99 and be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
All 47 songs from Green Day: Rock Band will also be exportable into
Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and the recently announced
Rock Band 3 for a $9.99 fee on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
We'll have more soon.
