The Arcade Heroes blog has invaded this year's Amusement Expo in Las Vegas and come away with the first look at Namco Bandai's four-player Pac-Man game, Pac-Man: Battle Royale.
Created in honor of Pac-Man's 30th anniversary, the Battle Royale cabinet is done up in the classic "cocktail" style, complete with wood paneling and cup holders.
Using a graphical style that's very similar to the Xbox Live Arcade-exclusive Pac-Man: Championship Edition, Battle Royale dumps four differently-colored Pac-Men into a maze with a mass of pellets and four pesky ghosts.
Snatching the power pellet appears to be the object of the game as it makes Pac-Man grow into a giant-sized version of himself, enabling him to perform Pac-cannibalism on the other players.
Pac-Man: Battle Royale will make its way to your local arcade (if you have a local arcade that is) in September. It's currently unknown if the game will be released on home consoles, but with Pac-Man: Championship Edition's strong showing on the XBLA (both critically and financially), I'd say it's very likely.
