News: And they don't confirm nor deny its existence.
Perhaps something got lost in the translation when Folkert Langeveld of Sony Benelux casually mentioned (the currently unannounced) LittleBigPlanet 2 in a recent interview. The interview was conducted in Dutch after all.
Gaming site Connected Consoles reached out to Sony Europe to find out the true story. While Sony predictably passed off the LittleBigPlanet/Move connection on their recent Game Developers Conference presentation, the statement they received back is very cagey in that it doesn't exactly confirm nor deny that LittleBigPlanet 2 is in development:
"As demonstrated recently at GDC, LittleBigPlanet has been shown as an example of how an existing game could benefit from PlayStation Move Motion Controller support. This is not a confirmation of LittleBigPlanet 2, and we do not have any announcements to make about the LittleBigPlanet franchise."
So Sony has no announcements to make about LittleBigPlanet 2 today. But what about at E3 in June? Since LittleBigPlanet's release in 2008, Media Molecule has yet to announce a new project and they have to be working on something. I would be shocked if a real announcement concerning LittleBigPlanet 2 doesn't happen this year.
We'll have more soon.
