News: Gabe and Tycho stuff the game into the tangle of cables behind their TV.
Today is the first day of the inaugural Penny Arcade Expo East. The PAX East show is taking place in Boston and many gamers were hoping to learn more about the future of the Penny Arcade Adventures series.
And learn more we did. But in this case, "more" means "cancelled".
Joystiq had a chance to talk to Penny Arcade creators Mike "Gabe" Krahulik and Jerry "Tycho" Holkins, who confirmed the episodic RPG series' demise.
"Hothead has
DeathSpank and they have a chance to do something really cool with it," Holkins said. Taking on this second project was the death knell for the series as Holkins also said "we'd rather not do it than do it half-assed."
Releases in the episodic series initially came at a good clip, with Episode One launching in May 2008 and Episode Two following five months later in October. After that, Episode Three become stuck in limbo and even landed on Wired's 2009
Vaporware List.
Holkins also confirmed to Joystiq that the remaining two episodes comprising the "On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness" storyline would be told on the Penny Arcade website.
We'll have more soon.
