News: While the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIII nearly doubles the Xbox 360 version.
The NPD Group has released their report on the bestselling games and consoles in March and Kratos reigns over all other this month. The final entry in the God of War trilogy sold 1.1 million copies, narrowly edging out Pokemon SoulSilver on the DS. They were followed by the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIII, which nearly doubled the sales figures of the Xbox 360 version. Other new additions to the monthly top ten include MLB 10: The Show and both versions of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with the Xbox 360 at #4 and the PS3 at #8.
March 2010 has been called "Second Christmas" by many game writers due to the huge number of highly anticipated games that were released. And their total sales power did not disappoint as the game industry actually grew last month for the first time in a long time. All told, total sales amounted to $1.52 billion, a six percent increase over last year's $1.44 billion in sales during the month.
