Capcom has announced that Nathan Spencer will swing into action again early next year in Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. Developed by Fat Shark, which was founded by veterans of the original Rearmed team from GRIN, the series will once again bring classic 2D platforming to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
Players will receive new weapons, attacks and enhancements for the Bionic Arm as they battle General Sabio, a "technologically sophisticated foe". But players will also gain the greatest weapon of all in the sequel... the ability to jump!
With new powers comes new responsibility, and Capcom promises that Rearmed 2 will be bigger and better than its predecessor (while still retainting the two-player co-op and NES-inspired soundtrack):
Nathan Spencer will make use of his trademark tool Ц his bionic grappling hook Ц to grab, swing and leap through series of lush new environments. He'll be met by plenty of gun-toting soldiers and mechanized threats ready to give him a hostile greeting. Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 improves upon the visual achievements of its predecessor with the addition of more detailed character models, textures, and vibrant colors. New player mechanics will add another strategic layer of platforming to the overall experience and the famous bionic arm will be getting a major makeover delivering a more dynamic bionic experience to the player.
Capcom has also unveiled the first trailer for the game, which you can check out right here:
Once again, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 will be released for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in early 2011.
