News: With a possible series to follow.
A report in Broadcasting and Cable has revealed that THQ and the Syfy Channel are about to get a lot chummier this year.
Earlier this year, THQ revealed that they had teamed up with Syfy to create a series based on De Blob. Now, the two companies will team up again to produce a Red Faction movie based on the upcoming Red Faction 4.
The two-hour movie will serve as a "back-door pilot" to a possible ongoing series if the movie does well. The partnership will continue on the video game side of things as Syfy Games will co-produce Red Faction 4 with THQ. The game is currently scheduled to make its worldwide debut at this year's E3 expo with an early 2011 release planned. It's currently unknown when an airdate for the movie will be announced.
THQ will get a chance to play in Syfy's sandbox as well as the company is developing
Ghost Hunters Academy for the DS and iPhone/iPad. According to B&C, "the game will have players trying out to join the Ghost Hunters team. The iPhone version will also utilize the device's camera for an augmented reality feature."
We'll have more soon.
