News: And a viking funeral for the PS2.
The NPD Group has released their report on the bestselling games and consoles in April and Sam Fisher was not only the most wanted fugitive, but the most sought after new game. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction took the top spot, with Pokemon SoulSilver on the DS holding on to the second slot for a second straight month. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Pokemon HeartGold and God of War III rounded out the top five. This month saw only one other debut in the top ten and that was the PS3 version of Super Street Fighter IV at #10.
The list of bestselling consoles remained unchanged. DS at the top, PSP at the bottom. But the NPD Group did announce that they will no longer be tracking monthly sales figures for the PS2. The most successful console ever has lived an epic life, and aside from a few sports games and ports planned for release later in the year, it was more or less dead. RIP dear friend, you defined an entire generation of games like no platform has before.
