News: Turn your family and friends into flesh eaters soon.
George A. Romero is the father of the modern zombie, yet he's never really been able to bring his unique vision of horror to the video game business. Romero recently revealed to Destructoid that he is very interested in working with a developer on a game, in a larger capacity than "sell us your name and go home."
While it may not be exactly what he had in mind, Romero has teamed up with Additive Interactive to bring
App of the Dead to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
App of the Dead will allow players to take photos of their friends and family and zombify them "with grisly scars and bloody wounds!"
Players will then have the option to import this shambling legion of the undead into a shooting gallery game where they can splatter their brains in a "spectacular" display of blood.
App of the Dead will launch in the coming weeks alongside Romero's latest Living Dead film,
Survival of the Dead, which will hit theaters on May 28 and can be viewed through
Amazon's On-Demand service right now.
Let's hope Romero gets his wish someday and helps develop the ultimate zombie game. His last video game project,
City of the Dead, was cancelled after the developer went bankrupt. But what we saw looked amazing.
