News: Then why does he keep talking about it?

David Jaffe spent his Sunday afternoon posting up a storm on Twitter and, once again, denied that he and his team at Eat, Sleep, Play are working on a new Twisted Metal game. He would go on to say that his team is actually working on a completely original property and that it's very hard work:

"By the way, I WISH we were making a new Twisted Metal. Making game you've already worked on is tons easier cuz your core blueprint is"
May 23, Around 6:00 PM

"already there. This new game design stuff tho? Man, that is hard...reason I'm so stressed these days!"
May 23, Around 6:00 PM

"ALtho I gotta admit, doing new design/IP stuff IS fun. But days like today you just WISH you already knew the formula that worked!"
May 23, Around 6:00 PM

Jaffe would go on to say that he won't be in attendance at this year's E3, so whatever he's working on for Sony will remain shrouded in mystery.

But should we believe him?

Jaffe previously stated he was working on a Twisted Metal game for the PS3 after gamers cracked a code included with the PS2 version of Twisted Metal: Head-On. Whatever happened to that game?

Also, Jaffe's recent insistence that he's not working on a new Twisted Metal is attempting to answer a question no one is asking. Perhaps this is the outspoken developer's latest cry for attention, but if you've got nothing to report, you shouldn't report anything. Then people won't speculate.

But since we are speculating, I'd bet good money that Jaffe will have something to unveil at this year's E3. With LittleBigPlanet 2 and Killzone 3 already announced, Sony needs a suprise for their press event and a new Twisted Metal would be a huge coup.

We'll have more on all things David Jaffe soon. Hopefully at E3 2010.
