News: EA announces the first details of the last two Haryr Potter games.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is such a massive book that Warner Bros. will split the story into two parts for the film adaptation. Today, Electronic Arts has announced they will be following suit with the final Harry Potter movie-to-game adaptation.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is in development at EA Bright Light and will be released this Fall for the DS, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. This entry marks a turning point for the Harry Potter game series as it will be the first one built from the ground up for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
УThe final Harry Potter adventure has given us the opportunity to make a darker and more action-oriented game than we have before,Ф says Jonathan Bunney, VP, Head of Production at EA Bright Light. УWe believe we are creating a Harry Potter game that the HD console gaming generation will appreciate and enjoy. We have built new technology specifically to allow us to prove that magic is a truly potent force and, in this game, players will need to use all their skills if they want to survive.Ф
In case you're unfamilar with the Harry Potter mythos (in which case, Gaming Target welcomes our new extraterrestrial readers to Earth), here's what you'll see in the game and movie of Deathly Hallows Part 1:
The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 video game is packed from start to finish with action and combat. Players will be on the run, fighting for survival on a desperate and dangerous quest to locate and destroy Voldemort's Horcruxes, engaging with Death Eaters and Snatchers in epic battle sequences at every turn. To amplify the action, players will encounter ferocious creatures from the previous films in addition to the adversaries Harry faces in the seventh film. They will need to muster their most powerful magic against relentless assaults from all sides. There are no more lessons, no more training. This time the danger is real. It's time for players to fight for their lives.
EA also confirmed that
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is also in the works for the DS, PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 at EA Bright Light. The company didn't announce when Part 2 would be released, but a July 2011 release alongside the Part 2 movie seems pretty likely.
We'll have more soon.
