News: Dreamcast games Ц now with Achievements and Trophies? Pinch me, I must be dreaming.
Classic Dreamcast titles are coming to the XBLA and PSN later this year, according to a Sega announcement. The first two games will be Sonic Adventure in the fall of 2010 Ц to coincide with the 11th anniversary of the release of Dreamcast in Europe Ц followed by Crazy Taxi.
The games will be based on their originals, helping to introduce a younger generation to this amazing consoleЕwhile giving the older generation a way to feed their nostalgia through experiencing their time-honored favorites in high resolution with surround sound. The addition of Trophies and Achievements, as well as the incorporation of online leader boards, brings an all-new dimension to the games as well.
The Sega Dreamcast is a well-known console, touted on the Sega blog as Уone of the most beloved and critically acclaimed consoles of all time.Ф As such, Haruki Satomi, the Vice President of Digital Business at Sega of America and Sega Europe, said that the УDreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gamingФ and that У[t]here are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today's digital market place. We're very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems.Ф
Trust me, Satomi-san, we are all in total agreement with you, and we're excited, too. Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi will both be on display at the Sega booth at E3, so hopefully we'll get to check them out and let you know if they're as great as they sound.
