News: If you want to fight the necromorph, click the link. If you want to hide like a little girl, go play MySims.
Electronic Arts has announced that gamers will be able to experience the initial necromorph outbreak that powers the story of Dead Space 2 in a prequel they have in development for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Titled Dead Space Ignition, the game is an "interactive comic adventure" and it'll be released this Fall.
Developed by a collaboration between Visceral Games and Sumo Digital, Ignition will offer players three unique hacking mini games: Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override. EA has said they're arcade-style games that will require a mastery of puzzles and twitch gameplay. Can you say Tetris in space? Or perhaps it'll be Puzzle Fighter in space. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Inspired partly by the "Choose Your Own Adventure" series of books, Dead Space Ignition will include four different endings, each of which will gives players a special unlockable item, including an exclusive suit for series star Isaac Clarke, that they can use in Dead Space 2, which will be released on January 25. The story itself will be written by Antony Johnston, who also penned the six-issue Dead Space comic book series in 2008.
УDead Space Ignition is the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2,Ф said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on the Dead Space franchise. УThe interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, and will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers.Ф
We'll have more soon.
