News: To tie in with the release of Red Faction: Armageddon.
THQ and the Syfy Channel have announced that the Red Faction movie, Red Faction: Origins, will make its television premiere in March 2011. THQ's Red Faction: Armageddon will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March of 2011 as well.
The film will be set in the period between Red Faction: Guerrilla and the upcoming Armageddon where it'll follow the children of Guerrilla's hero Alec Mason:
Twenty-five years have passed since Alec Mason led the Martian Colonies to freedomЕand ten years since vengeful enemies killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter Lyra, and left a broken hero in their wake.
Jake Mason, Alec's last surviving son and a ranger in the Red Faction Militia, had never abandoned hope that somewhere in the raw outlands of Mars, his sister was still alive. Now, just as a powerful new enemy swarms across the planet, he's found her, only to learn that his long lost sister is one of themЕa cold-blooded soldier sworn to destroy the Red Faction and conquer the planet in the name of a madman.
Jake must now battle the relentless regime and somehow reunite a family torn apart by war.
Casting details weren't announced, but Syfy did reveal that the screenplay will be written by Andrew Kreisberg (who has worked on "Warehouse 13," "Fringe" and "The Vampire Diaries") from a story developed by Paul DeMeo (The Rocketeer).
We'll have more soon.
