News: The franchise foe goes from man to alien.
Red Faction: Armageddon is switching up the franchise's enemy type after the last three games simply focused on a struggle against oppressive regimes. Set in 2170, the communist-like rise against "the man" is so 50 years ago and so is living on the surface of Mars. According to THQ's Comic-Con' trailer, Darius Mason, grandson of Red Faction: Guerrilla's Alec Mason, faces an "unspeakable threat," meaning aliens, as mankind must inhabit the depths of the red planet. The trailer details the mysterious enemy and shows off the underground environment with quick-paced, shaky camera clips.
Red Faction: Armageddon won't be available until March 2011, but while there's time to further explain what's happening, expect THQ and series developer Volition to remain mum on the alien enemy. It seems like you'll have to play the game to reveal the background on this mysterious underground foe.
