News: Sega gets out MjЎlnir and starts hammering away at the game.
We're not sure what to make of next year's
Thor movie and the fact that it's receiving a
post-production 3D conversion. However, the mighty, yet underrated Marvel superhero makes his solo video game debut in 2011 and we think it's about time. Sega announced today that it's getting out MjЎlnir and hammering away at
Thor: The Video Game on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and DS.
УWe are proud to be bringing Marvel's Thor to his first solo video game adventure,Ф commented Gary Knight, Senior V.P. of Marketing at Sega Europe and SEGA America. УThor: The Video Game will finally bring the immense power of this iconic hero to lifelong fans, and introduce the God of Thunder to a whole new audience as a true Marvel Super Hero.Ф
Naturally, each version is going to be different, with the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions taking a more cinematic, third-person approach and featuring enemies that are up to four times the size of Thor. The graphics of the Wii and PSP versions, meanwhile, will be presented with a comic book style and presentation of the DS version shifts to a 2D side-scrolling adventure.
There's no word yet on whether or not Thor's star-studded cast, which includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, will lend their voices to the game. However, Matt Fraction, the Eisner Award-winning writer and lead Thor comic book author, is serving as a story consultant. So, unlike the fates Iron Man and Iron Man 2, we're hoping that the powers of lightning, thunder, and wind are in good hands.
