News: The beautiful game goes asphalt.
EA Sports has announced that the Wii version of FIFA 11 will receive an exclusive "Street Soccer" mode. This is not the first time EA has taken the FIFA series away from the pitch and onto asphalt, as there are currently three installments in the FIFA Street series, with the most recent coming in 2008.
Each player in the arcade-style five-on-five mode will be decked out in street wear and boast a "distinctive style of play" with "unique abilities to match." A power meter will give players the ability to blast shots, ignite a speed burst or send shockwaves over your opponents.
Other features include:
Challenge your rivals in the hottest locales around the world, everywhere from Brazil to London to the streets of France. The stage is set for victory with a soundtrack that brings the culture of the area to life. Plus, for the first time on Wii, test your game in an indoor setting. Customize the game to suit your style of play. Choose from different match typesЧfirst to score, Tug of War or timedЧand from a variety of different goals to test your skills, including elevated nets for lofted touch shots, wall goals for continuous action and mini nets to test accuracy.
FIFA 11 will be released for the Wii on October 4, with DS, PC, PS2, PS3, PSP and Xbox 360 versions scheduled for a September 28 release.
We'll have more soon.
